Oh my giddy aunt!

Today has been the perfect sunny day to take some photos of a few more charity shop gems old and new, so here we go...
I have a thing for old cameras so I was thrilled when I found this old Kodak Brownie in pristine condition for £5!

I think this sewing box was £5 and its the perfect size for storing all my threads and pins.
This was a dress I bought last year from Oxfam Vintage in Nottingham.  I'm not sure how old it is but the length and style is perfect for a 1940s outfit. Its navy with a white pin stripe and lace collar (The red belt is my own).  £7 - bargain!

Enough food to feed and army.

Hooray! I'm back and it only took me 6 months. I know that's pretty rubbish but there has been a lot going on, honest. Anywho I feel that my general motivation is going to be much better from now on so here goes...

... a beautious 1960s (I think) knitting bag.  I bought this last year in a charity shop in Mumbles, Swansea for the fair price of £2.75!  And there was a random cable needle inside.  I don't really use it as I have too much knitting stuff to go in one bag although I'm thinking of using it as a handbag.

So last week I decided it was time for a good rummaged around the charity shops of Ilkeston and what a bounty I found!  In one shop I spotted a cracking 1970s polaroid camera with a spare flash bulb for £2.50 and 3 metres of this lovely vintage fabric for £2.  They also had an electric organ for £20 but I thought that was a little bit extravagant as I can't actually play it.
I got The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest (£1.75) and The Dark Knight - double disk edition (£3) from the British Heart Foundation.  All in all a good days charity shopping. I am a happy bunny.

The world and his wife.

I have decided from now on to have phrases my mother uses as the titles to my posts.  It might not make sense but it keeps me happy.  Anywho here's some more charity shop finds.
Now every girl should have a little black dress in their wardrobe and this is mine.  I purchased this dress from Save the Children in Nottingham about eight years ago but I still love it.  A little bit of sparkle, a little bit of pattern and some fringy bits.
I am slightly obsessed with tea related paraphernalia and can't help but look for tea cups and tea pots every time I go into a Charity shop.  The metal tea pot is my particular favourite as I believe the best tea is made in a metal pot and this one pours beautifully as well, only £4 courtesy of Cancer Reasearch.  The cups and tin I bought because they were pretty and looked so lonely by themselves.
This skirt came from Age UK (previously Help the Aged) for £2.50. I love the pattern and colours and it is always a staple in my summer wardrobe.

Well that's it for now. I will attempt to take more interesting photographs but finding places to prop my camera is quite difficult.

I heart charity geeks

For any other budding charity geeks out there check out the UpStyler website.  Set up by two ladies who love charity and vintage shops, they mix vintage designer and charity shop pieces for their fashion shoots to show the potential of second hand clothes. They then sell them online and give a percentage of the profits to charity. Win win!

And so it begins.

Hello again! And so begins the back cataloging. Here are some things I bought years ago but they were all brilliant bargains that I couldn't resist showing off.
I bought this dress from a PDSA charity shop in Swansea for £6.  It's originally from Warehouse and was perfect for my second year summer ball.

This skirt was from the British Heart Foundation shop in Ilkeston.  I think it was about £3 but it was also 6 inches longer with the black and white flower pattern at the top.  So I took off the waist band, cut off the extra fabric, put in some pleats, stitched the waist band back on with a zip and Voila! a lovely skirt which I've worn so many times it now has holes in.

This lovely umbrella I spotted in Help the Aged in Ilkeston for £4.  I have had many jealous glances especially when I open it...
Oh yeah, double whammy of gorgeousness!
After I bought it I discovered my friend's mum has one exactly the same in grey and red, which my friend has coveted for many years.

Well that's it for this installment.  See you next week (hopefully) with some other lovely stuff.

Oops a daisy!

I must apologize for being one of those new bloggers who does one post and then doesn't come back for ages but I have been very busy, honest.  Also with the days getting shorter there is even less chance to take photos in daylight which I prefer.  So this week I promise with all my heart to make some new posts, but until then why don't you enjoy this little ditty to celebrate the month of November.

This is by Rocky and Balls who I am a little bit in love with.  You can purchase the charity single version from here... http://rockyandballs.bandcamp.com/album/the-mo-song-charity-single-for-movember

Check out their other songs too.  They're awesome!

Hello dears.

I'm Little Sister Fanny and I'm a self confessed charity shopping fanatic! Its my favourite thing to do (apart from drinking tea) and I've spent years collecting clothes, books and other wonderful nicknacks.  So I thought why don't I show the world what I've found and see if I can give anyone else the charity shopping bug.

Here's just a few things I bought recently although I've got lots of lovely things stashed away so be prepared for some back cataloguing!

What a beauty this is!  I found this copy of Little Women and Good Wives in the Treetops Hospice Shop for 50p!  I love the art deco cover and it has an inscription inside...

... Ivy Pilgrim, now that's a winning name if ever I heard one.  If anyone can read the last word please tell because its been bugging me since I bought it.

Now I know this one is going to be a little bit controversial but...

... how could I resist! It was only £6 from the Headway shop! and before you ask yes it is real fur.  Now I'm not usually a fur person but I didn't think those ickle bunnies who gave their lives for this coat would want to be left in a charity shop.  Surely using the coat would be the best way to remember their sacrifice plus it looks really good on me.  So moving on...

This lovely metal plate was from Treetops Hospice for £1.  I thought it was pretty.  That's about it.

And so onto the final item of the day.

Just to let you know I have a thing about teacups and teapots so expect to see quite a few on here.  There just so pretty and I can't bare to see them sat on those dusty shelves with the other bric-a-brac when they could be loved and adored by me.  So we'll start off with this beauty...

Its called Violetta and I think was £1.45 from the Lighthouse charity shop.  I love the colours and it will go nicely with my collection.

So there ends my first post.  I hope you liked it and I'll put more up very soon.  Laters potaters.
